Message from the Symposium Chairs
On the behalf of Engineering Graduate Student Council (EGSC), we would like to welcome you to the 14th Annual College of Engineering Research Symposium (CERS 2017) , which is set at April 4th 2017 in Nittany Lion Inn. CERS is a student-initiated, student-run event that provides a networking opportunity for undergraduate students, graduate students, and industry representatives. CERS 2017 showcases the cutting-edge interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research that is being conducted at Penn State in paper and poster formats.
We are pleased to report that the 2016 CERS event featured 60 paper presentations and 64 poster presentations. Civil Engineering had the highest contribution rate for paper submissions (15 papers), and also had the highest poster contribution rate (18 posters). We also would like to recognize the 51 faculty and research staff and 97 student reviewers. The ‘Art in Science’ competition, which was motivated by a desire to honor and celebrate the role of aesthetics and visuality in the scientific fields, expanded in its third year to 22 participants. We look forward to further growth for CERS 2017.
Now we are gearing up for CERS 2017 and look forward to your participation, sponsorship, attendance and volunteer jobs. Please feel free contact CERS chairs Zhifeng Chen at firstname.lastname@example.org and CERS co-chairs David Dopfel email@example.com and Dorcas Kaweesa at firstname.lastname@example.org.
